Samity (BCS) is going to organize the exhibition based on
applications & services providing digital processes & systems and
digital life style in the name of ' BCS DIGITAL EXPO 2010'
at Dhaka Sheraton Hotel, Minto Road, Dhaka, during March 31
- April 03, 2010. In parallel of this expo an international
event in the title of 'ASOCIO Multilateral Trade Visit 2010'
will take place at the same venue during March 31 - April 01, 2010.
The honorable Prime Minister of Government of the People's Republic
of Bangladesh Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina has
kindly consented as the Chief Guest to inaugurate
these parallel events on March 31, 2010 at 10:00 AM.
The 4-day extravaganza expo will take place to display the
segment-wise applications & services, communication tools,
technologies and techniques that the people of all walks of life are
rapidly being used to use as their daily work processes, livelihood
& home appliances such as Applications & Tools, Data Communication
Tools & Techniques, Computer Products & Accessories, Laptop / Note
Book, Net Book, Mobile Phone / PDA / Smart Phone, Digital Camera,
LCD Monitor, LCD TV, Digital Video Camera, Digital Photo Frame,
Photo Quality Printer, Multimedia Projector, Portable Audio & other
Devices (e.g. MP3/MP4), Wireless Tools & Devices (e.g. Wi-Fi Access
Point, Keyboard, Mouse etc), USB Mobile Devices, Digital Education
Tools & Multimedia Software, Network & Internet Products etc. As
such, this will be the most congruent event with the most popular &
vibrating national program of building ' Digital Bangladesh',
where there is the widest range of opportunities to highlight the

Bangladesh Computer samity
Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS) is the apex ICT business and trade
industry association of Bangladesh. It represents the industry that
comprises of distributors, dealers, resellers of computer and allied
products, locally assembled computer vendors, software developers and
exporters, internet service providers, ICT based educational institutions
and training houses and other ICT enabled services providers.
Established in 1987 with 11 founding members, a total of 748 members have
been enrolled till February 05, 2010 at BCS which is run by a seven-member
Executive Council elected biennially by its members.
BCS safeguards the interest of ICT entrepreneurs, promotes the effective use
of ICT, renders expert business advice on ICT to the concerned authorities,
negotiates with various entities on ICT related issues, organizes
large-scale ICT expositions, awareness campaigns, seminars, workshops and
conferences, arranges training programs for ICT professionals, entrepreneurs
and users, publishes brochures, catalogues & reports, supplements
Governments efforts in the development of ICT, and represents ICT community
of Bangladesh in local, regional and global forums. It contributes to the
countrys ICT policymaking and helps implement national ICT action plans
along with the public entities. It also provides support and cooperation to
the NGOs in ICT related development and services.
BCS represents Bangladesh private sector ICT industry as
the only member from our country in the global forum of World Information
Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA : www.witsa.org), which is a
consortium of 69 ICT industry associations from economies around the world
representing over 90 percent of the world ICT market, and in the regional
forum of Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO :
www.asocio.org), that comprises the key ICT industry associations in their
respective economies representing more than 10,000 IT companies in the

BCS Achievements and Milestones
Established in 1987, BCS is the first registered ICT trade
association of Bangladesh in 1992.
It started organizing ICT exhibitions first in 1993 and successfully
continues the event on regular basis in the capital city of Dhaka
and other cities.
BCS joined Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO) in
1996 as Associate Member and became full Member in 2001.
Syllabus was outlined and computer education was introduced in the
SSC level in 1996 & in the HSC level in 1998 at the initiative of BCS.
45 recommendations were made by the popularly known JRC committee in
1997 at the initiative of BCS for the development of ICT, few of
which are as follows:
- Withdrawal of duties, tax & VAT from computer & its allied products
- Formation of National ICT Task Force headed by the Head of the
- Declaring ICT as a thrust sector
- Formulation of National ICT Policy
- Special incentives for the local and foreign investors &
Duties, tax & VAT on computer & its allied products were withdrawn in
the budget of 1998 - 1999 at the initiative of BCS.
In 1998, BCS registered as member of WITSA (The World Information
Technology and Services Alliance), which is a consortium of 65 ICT
associations from economies around the world representing over
90 percent of the world ICT market.
BCS established the one stop ICT market in 1999 at the IBD Bhaban,
Agargaon, Dhaka in the name of 'BCS Computer City' that has become
the role model of its kind in the South Asia.
BCS introduced ASOCIO Multilateral Trade Visit on ICT in the Asian-Oceanian
region in 2000 starting from Dhaka.
BCS successfully organized ASOCIO Officers Meeting in Dhaka in 2004.
In collaboration with the Government of Bangladesh, BCS started
organizing the ICT Awareness Program in 2005 in divisional cities
and district, and this program has been continuing on regular basis.
BCS received National Award in 2008 as recognition of its outstanding
contribution for the development and expand ICT of the country.
